(Synopsis) Truth or dare...

Erin Robinson is having an epically bad year. Her blossoming career on Broadway tanked, forcing her to crawl back to home to Wellington. The icing on her failure cake? Her former on-again, off-again fling is in town, and the sexy Marine is taking up way too much space.

Warren Davis always knew Erin was special, which is exactly why he can't have her. A girl like her deserves something permanent--something neither of them wants. But now that they're both back in town and she's right there in front of him, a challenge in her eyes he's never been able to resist, he's questioning everything.

That challenge quickly escalates into an epic game of Truth or Dare. Erin's sure she's got him on lock, but as the night progresses, Warren's dares intensify, drowning her in lust. But with the past still breathing down their necks, there's no way either of them can win…

I've been feeding my love of second-chance love stories lately, and HIS TO TAKE was another tasty story to add to the growing list.

Erin has returned home a failure to figure out her next move. While drowning her sorrows, former fling Warren shows up and, sensing something off about her, entices her to play their favorite game, Truth or Dare, to remind her of how much fun they have together. Not only is she reminded of that, but she also remembers how she felt about him, and how that hasn't gone away.

His to Take was a lot of fun. I loved Warren and Erin's game of Truth or Dare and how Warren used that to draw Erin out of her shell. Warren never forgot Erin or how she made him feel, and it was so awesome that he was very eager to pick up where they left off. Erin, however, was a lot more resistant. She is very much in a state of limbo. She has no job or any current prospects. She has no place to live that is her own (she's staying with her family). She's not sure what her next move is, but she's not sure that next move should include Warren. Or anyone else, for that matter.

Thankfully, Warren doesn't feel the same, and he's man enough to steamroll over her indecision and insecurity in order to get what he wants. His carefully crafted game of Truth or Dare was designed to remind Erin why they were so good together all those years ago, and to get her comfortable enough to share with him what's going on in her head.

It might also be designed so that he could get her naked too.

Although His to Take is only a novella, it reads like a full-length novel. There's enough meat to the story and sexy times to satisfy you. And, yet, it only took me two hours to read the entire thing. I loved Warren and Erin's history and chemistry. They were perfect for each other. And this book was perfect for me in every way.
